¡Leche Con Carne!
No Use For A Name (1995)
The third album from the Sunnyvale, California skate punk band No Use For A Name was released thirty years ago today. It was recorded with the late Tony Sly on vocals and guitar with Ed Gregor on guitar, Steve Papoutsis on bass, and Rory Koff on drums.
This album will always hold a special place in my heart because No Use For A Name was the first band that I ever got to see perform live in concert. They were the first opening act for The Offspring in their tour on February and March of 1995, and I got to see them at the West Palm Beach Auditorium on March 11th of that year. Leche Con Carne was released less than a month before the show, so the songs that they played that night were from this album. Here is my favorite song that they played that night:
No Use For A Name (1995)
Monday morning you woke up cryingThe outcome of a stupid lineSaid by some punkass on the street
It wasn't me, it wasn't youIt wasn't anybody you knewIs it your old friend insecurity? The one companion that stuck by your side since you were bornTuesday night you were in a fightThe same old argument black and whiteIt's something that's eating you inside
It's not the food, it's not the boozeIt isn't anything consumedSo is it becoming a problem you can't hide? And all those times you thought that you were wrong, you were rightThe devil on your shoulder gives you strength in paranoiaThe countless times you call a fewYour best friend 'til the end of timeThey'll always be there by your sideSolidify conditions you've abusedWhat that means you'll never have a clue
More than just a lifelong friendNo social life, I guess we can pretendIt's not like I care but anywayYou always wanna leave you never wanna stay'Cause you think if you drink too muchThen you will lose itYou'll drink your security awayThe one companion that stuck by your side since you were bornThe little voice inside your headAnnoying and confusingThat somehow tells you what to doSocially you've lost your mindAnd basically you're out of timeYou try to build so much it breaks on youWhat that means you'll never have a clue
