My Old Ass
Warner Bros Pictures (2024)
This movie was screened during a Mystery Movie Monday a few weeks ago at Regal, but I didn't make out out to the theater that night. It's a bummer because I wanted to see this since they first played the trailer, and that mystery screening ended up being the only time that it was shown at my local Regal. That's better than the treatment they gave to critically acclaimed films like The Substance and Anora, neither of which they could find time to squeeze in a single screening for. Funny, they have no trouble finding time for endless announced showtimes for Wicked, Moana 2. and every comic book movie that comes out.
Thankfully, it's already available to stream on Amazon Prime. It's a very funny and heartwarming film with excellent performances from everyone in the cast. I'd recommend this movie to just about anybody. The only thing that I didn't love about it is its title which made me think of 90's Cinemax trash. Those movies can be amusing, but they're not worth going out of your way for. If I hadn't seen the trailer for My Old Ass, the name alone would probably have caused me to scroll right past it without giving the description a second look. It makes sense once you see it, but it's a poor way to market an excellent movie.
