This song came up on my Instagram feed last night. It pretty much captures my view of life, the universe, and everything in a catchy little tune that has been stuck in my head since I first heard it.
I’m pretty sure that life doesn’t have a meaningAnd if there’s a god then he doesn’t look like meAnd I’m just a member of the current apex speciesBut there will be another when the humans go extinctWe’ve only been around two hundred thousand yearsOf thirteen and a half billion yearsHow can we think the pinnacle is here?Isn’t that arrogant? There’s a couple hundred billion trillion sunsAnd we act like it all was made for usThere ain’t no way that we’re the only onesI’m not important, and neither are youSo let’s do whatever we wanna doBask in our cosmic insignificanceSoak up this blip we’re livin inCause nothing matters anywayIsn’t that great?Cause humans aren’t really gonna kill the planet (yay!)We’ll just make the planet unlivable for us (aww…)But earth will keep right on spinningWay long after we ain’t in itAnd life will keep right on livinTil the sun explodes and ohI’m not important, and neither are youSo let’s do whatever we wanna doBask in our cosmic insignificanceSoak up this blip we’re livin’ inCause nothing matters anywayIsn’t that great?I don’t mean to be a downerI don’t even think it’s sadThe universe is giganticAnd it’s kinda beautiful thatI’m not important, and neither are youSo let’s do whatever we wanna doBask in our cosmic insignificanceSoak up this blip we’re livin inCause nothing matters anywayIsn’t that great?
