Burt Young
1940 - 2023
The actor who is best known for his role as Paulie in the Rocky movies has passed away. He was 83 years old.
We saw two of Mr. Young's movies at the Mahoning this season: Blood Beach (at Camp Blood IX) and Back To School (at Tunnel Vision Tuesday on September 12th). I don't know a lot about his life or his career, but last month after seeing him in Back To School, I did a quick search online to learn a little bit more about him for the post about the movie. On that night, I wrote:

I don't know a lot about his life or his career, but last month after seeing him in Back To School, I did a quick search online to learn a little bit more about him for the post about the movie. On that night, I wrote:
"I don't know enough about the man to even come close to doing him justice, but he has a list of movie and television credits a mile long and he's been phenomenal in everything that I've seen him in. In addition to being a great actor, he's a Marine and he been a boxer, a painter, and an author, among other things. When the drive-in shuts down this winter, I think I'm going to spend a good portion of my free time watching more of his work and learning more about the man. He seems like a truly fascinating dude!"
I can't really say much more than that today, other than to add that it's sad that he's no longer with us. From the little bit that I do know about him, it seems like he was a good dude who lived an interesting life that I look forward to learning more about.
