Good Will Hunting
Miramax Films (1997)
Decades before his embarrassing "fortune favors the bold" commercials, Matt Damon was the co-writer and co-star of an incredible movie. Good Will Hunting premiered in theaters across the United States 25 years ago today. It was made for $10 million dollars and went on to earn over $225 million during its initial theatrical run. It also received nine nominations at the Academy Awards, including Best Picture, which it lost to Titanic. However, Robin Williams won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor, which ended up being the only Academy Award of his career. Matt Damon and Ben Affleck also won an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay.
I didn't catch this movie until I saw it on home video a couple of years after it was released, but it's one of my favorite movies of the decade and a film that I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anybody. It's available to stream on HBO Max. A subscription will set you back $9.99 a month, which is a better use of your money than taking Damon's advice on crypto currency.
