Tonight at Citizens Bank Park, the Phillies celebrated the career of the longest tenured PA announcer in Major League Baseball, Mr. Dan Baker. Anyone who has been to Veterans Stadium or Citizens Bank Park to see a game over the past 50 years has been welcomed to the ballpark by Mr. Baker. Every player who has set foot in the batters box over the past half century has been announced to the plate by Mr. Baker. He and his voice are as much of a part of this team as any player who has ever worn a Phillies uniform, and we are extremely fortunate to have him.
MLB.com has shared a video of the tribute (skip ahead to around the 1:50 mark after clicking to play). Kyle Gibson followed it up with a tribute of his own by taking a perfect game into the 7th inning in a masterful performance against the Washington Nationals.
