They Might Be Giants (1986)
The self-titled debut album from They Might Be Giants was released 35 years ago today. The record, which has become known as The Pink Album in the years since its release, includes a song called Don't Lets Start, which is one of my favorite pop songs from the decade.
Singer/songwriter John Linnell has insisted on numerous occasions that the lyrics are complete nonsense and don't mean anything. Personally, I tend to agree with Felix Brown's opinion on YouTube that he's singing to his cat.
