All The Things She Said
Simple Minds (1986)
Although New Wave was starting to cede its mainstream ground to Hair Metal by 1986, there was still a lot of excellent music in the genre that debuted in the second half of the decade. Included among these was this Simple Minds song, which was released as a single thirty years ago this month. It was the third single to be released from the band's 1985 album Once Upon A Time after Alive And Kicking and Sanctify Yourself.
Don't you look back on a big lost worldDon't you look down like the heroes sayCome tell me all about itTake me to the streets where the bonfires burnTake me in your arms and I'll fade awayWhen I hear you say what you got to sayAnywhere you go, you know I'll still be waitingAll the things she said, she saidLittle darling close your eyes, there'll be no compromisingOf all the things she said, she saidThrow me to the street where the heartbeats beatingTo the peaceful revolutionAnd the perfect wave, surround meTell me 'bout the ocean moving in slow motionI see it glitter in the sunThen it's freezing in the moonlightNever look back, never look back, never look awayIf freedom comes and goes, you know I'll still be waitingAll the things she said, she saidYou've fought the fight so long, no surrender to temptationOf all the things she said, she saidStars will fall out for youLuck will surrenderI'm calling out to youTo be near you in the first morning lightI'd be with you, I dream about youIf I could leave here, I would leave here tonightI'd be with you, I'd stay with you tonightTonightAnywhere you go, you know I'll still be waitingOf all the things she said, she saidWhen I look into your eyes, I see a new day risingOf all the things she said, she saidThrough the eyes of love, and to never know what hate isOf all the things she said, she saidShe said, this is our time, she said, this is our placeThis is the space my heart wants to beLittle darling close your eyes, there'll be no compromisingAll the things she said, she said
